Metal Free Crowns
Crowns, or caps, are used to restore broken or cracked teeth. The new metal-free crowns eliminate the ugly black line you may have seen next to the gum line on older crowns.
For decades the standard in dentistry for crown and bridge restoration materials has been the PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal). The framework for the dental crown was produced in metal and then covered with a porcelain layer.
Now with the evolution of all ceramic materials and their higher esthetic qualities, dental patients have options. Metal free framework beneath the porcelain gives excellent aesthetic qualities to make the final restoration extremely natural looking.
Contact us for more information about Metal Free Crowns.
Preventive Dentistry
Preventative Dental Care
Maintaining clean teeth and healthy gums is the cornerstone of preventative dental care, but it does much more than that. By removing plaque and tartar buildup, you reduce your risk of periodontal disease and other oral health issues. Regular teeth cleanings at Carmel Commons Dental allow our team to keep your smile healthy while identifying and addressing potential problems before they escalate.
Take charge of your oral health with preventative dentistry that ensures your teeth remain strong and disease-free for the long term.
Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars to emerge, typically in the late teens or early 20s. Unfortunately, their late arrival often causes complications, such as:
- Crowding: Insufficient space in the jaw for proper alignment.
- Misalignment: Teeth growing in at awkward angles.
- Impaction: Teeth trapped beneath the gums, leading to discomfort and potential infection.
Since wisdom teeth aren’t essential, removing them is often the best solution to prevent these problems. At Carmel Commons Dental, Dr. Timpton and our skilled oral surgeons provide surgical wisdom tooth extractions using local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia to ensure a comfortable experience.
Periodontal Treatment
Healthy gums are the foundation of a beautiful smile. Periodontal treatment focuses on preventing and managing gum disease, which can lead to issues like loose teeth, gum infections, or even jawbone complications.
At Carmel Commons Dental, we offer non-invasive and effective periodontal treatments to keep your gums healthy and support your overall oral health. Let us help you avoid gum-related problems and maintain the integrity of your smile.
Digital X-rays
Modern technology plays a key role in accurate and efficient dental care. Digital x-rays at Carmel Commons Dental provide instant, high-resolution images of your teeth and gums. These x-rays use electronic sensors, significantly reducing radiation exposure compared to traditional x-rays.
The process is quick, safe, and allows our dentists to diagnose and plan your treatment with precision.
Sealants
Protect your teeth from decay with dental sealants, a simple yet effective solution. Sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the grooves of your back teeth, which are prone to trapping food particles and plaque.
This invisible shield helps prevent cavities and makes maintaining your oral hygiene easier. It’s an excellent preventative measure for children and adults alike.
Mouth Guards/Night Guards
Safeguard your teeth from damage and injury with custom-designed mouth guards and night guards:
- Mouth Guards: Worn during sports to protect against impact and injury.
- Night Guards: Used while sleeping to prevent teeth grinding (bruxism) and jaw clenching.
Crafted from soft, durable plastic, our guards ensure a comfortable fit tailored to your needs, providing optimal protection.

Dr. Timpton is one of the first dentist in the Charlotte area to offer full service laser dentistry to his patients.
The Waterlase, by Biolase, is an all purpose laser. Simple in its design but extremely versatile. It can cut both soft (gums) and hard (teeth and bone) tissue without discomfort in most cases.

It is our pleasure to offer these services to our patients.

Scaling and Root Planing
While routine dental cleaning is done to help prevent gum disease, to help treat gum disease, dentists use a non-surgical method called scaling and root planing. This is a deep cleaning that is done below the gumline. When plaque is not properly removed from the teeth, it can cause the gums to get inflammed. When this happens, the gum can pull away from the teeth, forming pockets, that can trap the plaque and tartar. Scaling removes the plaque from below the gumline. After the scaling is done, the root planing is done to smooth the root of the tooth, helping the gum to reattach to the tooth.
The scaling and root planing procedure may sometimes require more than one visit.
Contact us for more information about Scaling and Root Planing.

Why Is Wisdom Teeth Removal Important?
Removing wisdom teeth is more than just a preventative measure—it’s essential for maintaining long-term oral health. Here are the key reasons why wisdom teeth removal is beneficial:
- Prevent Crowding
Wisdom teeth removal helps avoid overcrowding in your mouth by ensuring these late-arriving molars don’t disrupt the alignment of your other teeth. While some individuals have enough space for wisdom teeth to grow in properly, many do not. - Avoid Impaction
Impacted wisdom teeth—those trapped beneath the gumline—can lead to significant problems, including pain, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth. Removal is the most effective way to prevent these complications. - Reduce the Risk of Infection
Partially erupted wisdom teeth create an ideal environment for bacteria to accumulate, increasing the risk of painful infections. Removing wisdom teeth eliminates this risk, ensuring a healthier, problem-free smile.
At Carmel Commons Dental, we are dedicated to making your wisdom teeth removal experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. Contact our team today to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward better oral health.

Tooth-Colored Fillings
Gone are the days of metal fillings! At Carmel Commons Dental, we use tooth-colored composite fillings to treat cavities and restore your smile. These fillings closely match the natural color of your teeth, providing a seamless and aesthetically pleasing result.
Why choose composite fillings?
- They blend naturally with your teeth.
- They are free from the negative effects associated with traditional metal fillings.
- They help restore your tooth’s natural structure and strength.
Restore your smile with tooth-colored fillings that look and feel just like your natural teeth!
Root Canal Treatment
At Carmel Commons Dental, Dr. Timpton is dedicated to preserving your natural teeth whenever possible. Tooth extractions can lead to gaps that affect your bite, cause alignment issues, and impact your oral health.
When an infection occurs at the center of a tooth, involving the pulp and nerves, a root canal treatment is often the best solution to save the tooth. This procedure involves:
- Removing the infected pulp and nerves.
- Cleaning and disinfecting the tooth’s interior.
- Sealing the tooth to prevent further infection.
A root canal is an effective, long-term treatment that eliminates pain, clears infection, and keeps your natural tooth in place. Let us help you protect your smile!
Full Mouth Restoration
Complete oral health goes beyond individual teeth. It involves the proper function of your entire mouth, including your gums and bite. At Carmel Commons Dental, we take a comprehensive approach with full-mouth restoration, addressing multiple dental concerns to restore your smile’s functionality and appearance.
Our treatments include:
- Implants and Fillings: Replace or restore damaged or missing teeth.

Dental Implants
At Carmel Commons Dental, we provide advanced dental implant services to restore the look and functionality of your smile. Using state-of-the-art implant technology, our high-tech dental implants are securely placed in your gums to replace the roots of missing teeth.
How It Works:
- The implants are placed in your gums, where the surrounding bone begins to grow and strengthen around them.
- Over time, the gum tissue and bone integrate with the implant, creating a strong foundation.
- Once the implant is secure, a crown or fully restored tooth is placed, providing a natural, like-new appearance.
Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for missing teeth, offering a seamless look and feel. If you’re interested in transforming your smile, contact Carmel Commons Dental today to schedule a consultation at our family dentistry near Charlotte and Pineville, NC.
Bone Grafts: Supporting Your Dental Implants
Successful dental implants require sufficient bone volume beneath the gums to provide stability. If your bone volume is insufficient, a bone graft may be necessary.
What Is a Bone Graft?
- A bone graft stands in for missing bone, stimulating the formation of new bone in your jaw.
- This procedure increases bone volume, creating a strong foundation for dental implants.
- It is a safe and effective restoration process, vital for the success of your dental implants.
If you’re considering dental implants but have concerns about bone volume, contact Carmel Commons Dental to learn more about our bone graft services and other implant solutions.
CEREC Technology: Advanced Ceramic Restorations
At Carmel Commons Dental, we use CEREC technology to create durable and precise dental restorations for implants. This cutting-edge system allows us to design and craft your dental implant crowns efficiently and effectively.
How CEREC Technology Works:
- A digital scan of your existing teeth is taken, eliminating the need for invasive impressions.
- A 3D restoration is designed based on the scan.
- The design is sent to a digital milling device, which crafts the final restoration from dental ceramic.
Why Choose CEREC for Dental Implants?
- Restorations are completed in just one visit, saving time and eliminating the need for temporary crowns or follow-ups.
- Accurate, custom-fit designs ensure a natural appearance and feel.
- Multiple restorations can be crafted simultaneously for patients with extensive needs.
With CEREC technology, you can enjoy a hassle-free experience and beautiful, lasting results.

Full Mouth Restoration
What is Full Mouth Restoration?
Full mouth restoration, also known as full mouth reconstruction, is used to help the patient achieve optimal health of the entire mouth, including gums, teeth, and bite. This is done by addressing several dental issues, such as missing and damaged teeth, gum, and periodontal bone problems. It typically includes a combination of cosmetic and restorative dentistry services such as dental implants, dental crowns, bridges, veneers, gum re-contouring and fillings. It may also include treatment to improve the bite, such as orthodontics and TMD treatment to correct problems involving temporomandibular joints.
Since full mouth restorations usually require extensive dental work that may include several oral surgery procedures, the ideal candidate should be in good general health, even though they are suffering from poor oral health. Even though full mouth restorations require multiple visits of extensive work many are willing to pay that price for an enhanced appearance, restored self-esteem and optimal oral health that will last for many years.
If you are interested in full mouth restoration, call us today to schedule a consultation.
Contact us for more information about Full Mouth Restoration.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Inlays and Onlays are tooth-colored restorations that are used in place of silver fillings on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. Unlike silver fillings made from metals that may cause further damage to teeth, these cosmetic fillings look extremely natural and typically require that far less of the tooth be removed.
Contact us for more information about Tooth Colored Fillings.
Dentures and Partials
If you’re considering dentures as a solution for your oral health needs, schedule a consultation at Carmel Commons Dental in Charlotte, NC. Our experienced team will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your teeth and discuss the best options tailored to your unique situation.
Modern dentures are nothing to feel embarrassed about—they’re crafted using the latest advancements in dental technology to provide the functionality and comfort you need. Whether you’re experiencing issues with aging or diseased teeth, dentures offer a reliable way to restore strength, support facial muscles, improve chewing, and even enhance speech clarity.
Partials: A Flexible Alternative
Not ready for full dentures? Partials might be the solution for you. Partials are removable dental appliances designed to fill gaps between healthy teeth. These appliances rely on your existing teeth for support and are custom-crafted to fit perfectly.
How Partials Work:
- A precise impression is taken of your teeth.
- A custom partial denture is created to fill the gap.
- The removable appliance is placed to restore your smile and improve functionality.
Partials are a versatile and less invasive option for replacing missing teeth, giving you a beautiful and functional smile without requiring a full set of dentures.
Contact Carmel Commons Dental today to learn more about partials and other restorative options.

Root Canal Treatment
Your teeth play a vital role in your overall health and well-being. They allow you to express yourself and enjoy your favorite foods. However, poor oral hygiene or dental issues like cracks or cavities can allow harmful bacteria to invade, leading to infection. If left untreated, this infection can spread, damaging healthy teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues.
Fortunately, root canal therapy offers a solution to save your tooth and restore the integrity of your smile. At Carmel Commons Dental, our skilled professionals have the knowledge and tools to provide effective root canal treatments, helping you regain your oral health and confidence.
If you’re experiencing dental issues and aren’t sure whether a root canal is needed, review the following signs of an infected tooth.
Signs You May Need Root Canal Therapy
- Dental Pain
Pain deep within a tooth or radiating across your jaw, face, or other teeth could indicate an infection. Persistent or severe pain is often a sign of a serious issue. - Sensitivity to Pressure
Pain when eating, chewing, or even touching the tooth may signal nerve damage within the pulp. - Swollen Gums
Tender or swollen gums near the affected tooth can be a sign of infection. - Pimples on the Gums
Severe infections may cause small bumps or boils on the gums that release unpleasant-smelling pus. - Swollen Jaw
If pus from an infected tooth cannot drain properly, it may cause noticeable swelling in your jaw. - Loose Tooth
Untreated infections can weaken the surrounding bone, causing your tooth to feel loose and increasing the risk of tooth loss.

Teeth for Life
Taking care of your teeth and gums in between regular visits with your dentist is the path to maintaining a healthy smile for life. Good oral hygiene starts at home with a proper routine and the right dental products. We are going to make the most out of every visit to our office by working with you to provide complete dental care.
Dental Cleanings and Regular Checkups
One of the most important parts of complete oral hygiene are regular dental checkups. Here is a list of what to expect during your regular checkups:
- Check for any problems that you may not see or feel
- Look for any other signs of tooth decay
- Inspect your teeth and gums for gingivitis and signs of periodontal disease
- Provide a thorough teeth cleaning, rinse, and polish
Regular checkups provide you the opportunity to receive information regarding your oral health. This is why it is recommended that you schedule your checkups every six months. You also get the chance to learn about new procedures and treatments that may benefit your oral health and smile.
Choosing the Right Toothpaste and Toothbrush
Choosing the right products for your smile is very important, from toothpaste to mouthwash to toothbrushes to dental floss. When shopping for oral health products, make sure to look for the ADA - or American Dental Association - approval sticker. Your dentist will also be able to recommend the right products to suit your individual needs.

Something to remember: At birth, humans already have 20 primary teeth, known as “baby teeth” that begin erupting after six months, and by the age of 12 there are no more baby teeth. All 32 permanent teeth will erupt by age 21!

Pediatric Dentist
Pediatric Dentistry is the branch of dentistry which deals with the oral health of children from birth through adolescent, and also in the specialized care of “special needs” patients, such as those with autism, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation. Pediatric Dentistry focuses on the growth and development of the pediatric and adolescent patient, the management and prevention of oral disease and all aspects of pediatric restorative techniques. Also, because the pediatric dentist have to gain the trust and confidence of their patients in an effort to make the dental visit enjoyable, child psychology is emphasized as one of the main components of pediatric training.
Pediatric Dentists are typically required to complete an extra two to three years of post-doctoral dental training, after which they are eligible for board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Most states in the United States, with the exception of Texas, do require a pediatric dentist to have a special permit of license to represent oneself as a pediatric dentist, or limit their professional practice to Pediatric Dentistry.
Pediatric dentists places special emphasis on the prevention of tooth decay, especially since there are studies which have shown that poor oral health in children can not only lead to impaired school performance, but also poor social relationships.
In the same way that pediatricians are trained to meet a child's medical needs, our pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to protect your child's oral health, using the most advanced techniques.

Dental Crowns & Bridges
Adding a crown is one of the simplest and most effective ways to restore the natural look and function of your teeth. Crowns, also called caps, are used to cover a tooth that has been weakened by decay, hasn’t fully healed from an old filling, or is breaking down. Most crowns are made from durable porcelain fused to metal, offering both strength and aesthetics.
If you’re unhappy with the appearance of cracked or broken teeth, Carmel Commons Dental offers same-day dental crowns as a convenient solution to restore your tooth quickly. With our technology, you won’t need to wait for your tooth to be protected.
In addition to crowns, Carmel Commons Dental provides dental bridges to replace missing teeth. A bridge uses two porcelain crowns to anchor a false tooth in place, filling the gap left by a missing tooth. Unlike dentures, bridges are permanent and cannot be removed. Bridges not only improve your smile’s appearance but also support the health of your existing teeth by preventing overcompensation caused by gaps.
Contact Carmel Commons Dental to speak with Dr. Timpton about the best solution for your dental needs. Whether it’s a same-day crown or a custom bridge, we’re here to restore your smile.
Metal-Free Crowns
If you want to fix or hide broken or cracked teeth without the tell-tale signs of traditional crowns, metal-free crowns are the perfect option. Unlike older crowns that leave a visible black line at the gumline due to their metal framework, metal-free crowns are crafted entirely from ceramic.
Why choose metal-free crowns?
- Natural appearance: Blends seamlessly with your other teeth.
- Durability: Provides long-lasting results without compromising aesthetics.
- Enhanced confidence: Restores your smile without any noticeable dental work.
At Carmel Commons Dental, we prioritize both functionality and beauty. Contact us today to learn more about metal-free crowns and how they can restore your smile naturally.

Oral Cancer Screening
VELscope - Patient Education
Why VELscope?
The VELscope system helps dental professionals visualize abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of your lips, mouth and upper throat. In just two minutes, with no rinses, stains or discomfort, a VELscope examination lets healthcare professionals improve their assessment of your overall oral health.
Make sure that your mouth is as healthy as it can possibly be. The next time you visit Smile Help Dental, ask for a VELscope exam.
How Does the VELscope Work?
The VELscope's blue light "excites" molecules (called "fluorophores") deep within the layers of oral mucosal tissues. In turn, those fluorophores emit their own light (fluorescence), in shades of green, yellow and red. The VELscope's proprietary filter makes fluorescence visualization possible, by blocking reflected blue light, and by enhancing the contrast between normal and abnormal tissue.
Extractions
In life, there may be a time where it is necessary to perform a tooth extraction. There are times when baby teeth block the adult teeth from erupting properly. Either the root is too long, or the tooth itself is misshapen. Other times, a tooth may require extraction due to excessive decay, putting the jaw bone and surrounding teeth at risk of infection. Your doctor may recommend removal and replacement with a implant or bridge. Your doctor may also recommend removal due to problems with your wisdom teeth or orthodontic correction.
When your doctor notices a tooth he recommends for extraction he may recommend to remove it at the time of the checkup if necessary or reschedule an appointment to perform the procedure. The procedure is relatively quick, yet it requires your doctor expand your tooth socket in your jaw bone to separate the tooth from the ligament that holds it in place. If you have concerns it is important to bring them up with your doctor along with your preference for sedation.
Replacing an extracted tooth is often recommended by dentists. This is because after a tooth has been removed, neighboring teeth may shift, causing complications with chewing and jaw function. Consult with your doctor to see if replacement is right for you.
Contact us about Extractions for more information or to book an appointment.

Most dental treatments typically use traditional anesthetic injections. For some individuals, receiving these types of injections is unbearable, thus this variation of treatment cannot be performed. Using the Wand STA system is the most efficient way to numb the target area during an operation. The handpiece uses a computer controlled injection system releasing the anesthetic at a controlled and comfortable rate.
Innovative, Advanced, Patient-friendly Design
At first glance the Wand appears to look more like a pen than a syringe. The tip contains a very small discreet needle used to deliver the exact amount of anesthetic one needs at precisely the right rate. You can put your trust in this state-of-the-art system the next time you visit our offices.
Our goal is to provide our you with a stress free visit everytime. If you are interested in learning more about The Wand STA system, contact our office today!

Digital X-rays
Unlike traditional x-rays, digital x-rays use electronic digital sensors which are connected to a computer, to capture images of the mouth. These images are not only higher quality images that traditional x-rays, but they can be seen immediately by the dentist, which usually results in shorter dental appointments. Having digital x-rays makes it easier to transfer your dental records between dental offices.
Even though traditional x-rays are relatively safe, there are concerns by many about the amount of radiation they are exposed to when they get dental x-rays. Digital radiography will be the perfect option for them since it is estimated that digital X-rays use up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays!

Sedation
RELAX...You're in great hands!
We recognize that some of our patients may feel anxious or apprehensive about receiving dental care. Our doctors and staff work hard to make sure you have a comfortable, positive experience, and that's why we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry for those patients needing a little extra comfort before receiving treatment. Feeling anxious about receiving dental care should never prevent you from having the beautiful, healthy smile you deserve. Nearly 50% of the population feels nervous or uncomfortable about going to the dentist or having dental procedures done. Dr. Timpton understands the importance of helping patients feel relaxed and comfortable during dental procedures. If you feel that sedation is necessary for your dental care, give us a call to learn more about our sedation dentistry.
Customized sedation dentistry that is safe and effective
There are different types of sedation dentistry, and working together, you and our doctors will decide on a personalized treatment plan that will give you the care you need while ensuring your comfort every step of the way.
We offer IV sedation. Dr. Don Timpton is one of only a few general dentists in Charlotte who has advanced training in IV Sedation. After a thorough exam, we determine the best protocol for your sedation treatment and make a plan that fits your dental needs with your esthetic desires. Most dental problems including implants, extractions, cosmetic restorations, and many other dental corrections can be done in a safe relaxed way using sedation dentistry.
- With sedation dentistry, we can often complete all your dentistry in one visit.
- Sedation dentistry is very safe.
- Sedation stays in a patient's system for several hours after the appointment, so there are few complaints of pain after procedures are completed.
How IV Sedation Dentistry works
About an hour before you begin your dental treatment, you will be given a small pill to help relax you. Due to the sedative nature of the pill, you will need someone to accompany you to your appointment because you will not be able to drive.
When you arrive at our practice, our staff will be waiting for you and will escort you to a private treatment room where you'll be treated. Your doctor will gently place an IV and administer medication to help you into a deeper state of relaxation. Once your treatment is complete, you will wake up feeling refreshed, with little or no memory of the appointment and your dental needs addressed. Using sedation dentistry, we are able to complete many different procedures, including complex smile makeovers, in just one office visit.
Same Day Crowns
CEREC
Dr. Timpton uses the latest in advance technologies including CEREC! CEREC technology is revolutionary to dentistry because it creates a beautiful, esthetic, strong and durable ceramic restoration that is precisely bonded to the tooth. It is accomplished using a digital scan of the prepared tooth and creating the restoration’s design using powerful 3D software that allows the dentist to customize the result. The design is wirelessly transmitted to a special milling device that will create your restoration using a dental ceramic.
Because this is done in one visit you do not need to have a bulky, messy impression made of your tooth, you do not need to wear a temporary crown and you do not need to come back on a separate visit, often weeks away, to have your new crown placed. It is all done in one convenient visit that lasts a little over an hour. With this technology you can have multiple teeth treated at once to save you time.
Invisalign
Dr. Timpton has been offering his patients Invisalign for many years, and he is one of Invisalign's Preferred Providers. Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, metal wires, or brackets.
The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear plastic aligners, created precisely to gently and gradually move your teeth into place. By using a series of clear removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks, and your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have moved to the final position that Dr. Timpton has prescribed for you. Using advanced 3-D Technology, we can predetermine your treatment plan, and show you the results you would achieve, even before you start your treatment.
Some of the benefits of the Invisalign system include:
- Virtually Invisible – Only you will know you're wearing braces.
- Completely Removable – Eat, drink, brush and floss, or take them out for special occasions.
- Faster Treatment Time – No fixed metal brackets or wires to adjust means you'll spend less time visiting the doctor. You will receive a new set of aligners every other week during your Invisalign treatment. A trip to our office will occur every 6 weeks on average to ensure that your treatment is going according to plan.
Is Invisalign for me?
Invisalign can be used to treat the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, Dr. Timpton can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan.

TMJ Treatment
Advanced Solutions for TMJ
Do you suffer from chronic pain in your jaw and face, experience "popping" sounds when you chew and talk or have symptoms such as headaches or lockjaw? If so, the problem may be TMJ. This condition affects more than 10 million people in the U.S. alone. And it’s more than just painful — over time it can cause serious damage to your jaws and teeth.
TMJ Dysfunction is a popular term to describe a disorder of the jaw joints or the muscles that control the joints. Symptoms masquerade as a multitude of other problems such as sinus headaches, migraines, neck and shoulder stiffness and earaches.
We can accurately pinpoint the source of your pain and provide relief using the very latest in gentle, nonsurgical treatments.

Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding is a non invasive technique which is often used to close gaps between teeth, repair broken or chipped teeth or changing the color and shape of teeth. Bonding is a low cost alternative to veneers, but not as strong and has some limitations.
A tooth-colored dental composite material is applied to the surface of your teeth and is sculpted to give a natural and aesthetically pleasing result. This technique requires a level of artistic skill that we possess. We are highly experienced in the latest bonding techniques.
If you are looking for a low cost way to improve your smile, call us today to see if cosmetic bonding is right for you.
Sealants
Sealants are used to help protect the teeth from decay. The dental sealant is a thin coating usually applied to the fissures (grooves) of the back teeth. Even though plaque and food particles can be removed from the smooth surfaces of the teeth by brushing and flossing, it can be difficult to get all the food particles out of the depressions and grooves of the tooth. The sealant forms a protective shield over the enamel of the tooth by bonding into the depressions and grooves of the tooth, adding an extra protection for the tooth.

Mouth Guards/Night Guards
A mouthguard is a soft plastic appliance that fits over the teeth. When a properly designed, custom-made mouthguard is worn, the lips, cheek, tongue and jaws are protected, as well as the teeth. The American Dental Association estimates that mouthguards prevent 200,000 injuries each year in high-school and college sports alone.
Nightguards are mouthguards that have been specially designed to be worn by people who suffer from teeth grinding or jaw clenching while they are sleeping. Untreated teeth grinding and jaw clenching can lead to severe damage of your teeth.
